Nikolay Khardzhiev. The most prominent art expert and collector of the Russian avant-garde. The owner of rare artworks, he had a remarkable taste, understanding, intuition, and exceptional persuasiveness. An extraordinary man, he was a walking library and a keeper of treasures collected in his Moscow flat. Towards the end of his life, he decided to emigrate and move his archive to the Netherlands. When his collection was scattered around the world, he passed through a personal tragedy and the death of his wife… Russia had lost the works of the greatest artists of the Russian avant-garde – Larionov, Goncharova, Malevich, Matyushin, Filonov, Tatlin, Lissitzky and many others.
